Response to Stereotypes Presentation
I learned many things while researching stereotypes in the media. This topic has always interested me so I was glad that I got to do a presentation over it. I think it is interesting to explore how the media affects our everyday lives because we do not normally think about this. The media is all around us affecting most of our decisions and yet we do not realize it. I learned so many things while researching.
I wish we had more time to present we had researched to the class. I learned so much but I felt that I was not able to go into detail and explain the things that most interested me because of the time limit. If there had not been such a short time limit I feel that I would have been able to go into more detail and the class would have appreciated my presentation more. I felt like I was only able to discuss the basics of stereotypes in the media. It may have been a better idea to discuss the basics in a couple of class periods before we started our presentations. That probably would have made the presentations more interesting and understandable.
The discussion after our presentation did not seem to go very well. I was not sure where the discussion was supposed to lead to. I think we may have needed a little more guidance in leading the discussion. I also think the class should have been more involved in the discussion. That would have made things more interesting and enjoyable. I think the discussion may have gone better if we had a more controversial topic. More people would probably join in the conversation and stated their opinion. There is not much to debate about stereotypes. I think that for the most part people would agree that stereotypes exist and will never go away.
Overall I think we could have done a better job with our presentation if there were a few changes made.
